Spring into Yoga

Even on these crisp mornings, Spring is definitely in the air! Melinda and I are doing some travelling over the next few weeks so the studio will be closed from March 24th to March 28th and then again from April 7th through the 14th. I'll still have classes during that week between, so please drop in and see me.
2008 is off to a great start and I've been seeing new face at the studio as well as several familiar faces. I am beginning a new cycle of beginner's classes and adding a Wednesday morning beginners classes back in. Give a call if you are interested or just pick a night that week and drop in.
Tuesday night, Wednesday morning (10:00 a.m.) and afternnoon (4:15), and the Thursday night classes are going to be dedicated to starting from the very beginning! If you would like to join us just drop in to give it a try either night. If you have special needs and would like to talk to me about them, send me a note at noplacelikeom@mags.net and I will be glad to get back to you.
We are continuing to offer classes in Kripalu Yoga. No need to wait for a session to start, just get here and start where you are. We've added more beginning classes to accomodate our students' time constraints. So check the Calendar for dates. The shop is open so that you can buy your mats and props right at the studio as well as a sellection of other items to support your practice. We're usually there about fifteen minutes before class.
Your first Phoenix Rising session is complimentary. Subsequent sessions are $35 for the time being. So, give us a call to schedule your session (for more information on Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy go to our About Us page).
Also, keep checking this website for updates to our Get Started pages and Links to other sites you might be interested in. The September schedule is posted and ready to go! Go to the Schedule page for more information. Take a look at our Sponsored Class Special on the Class Descriptions and Rates page. It's a great way for you and your friends to learn yoga together.

What is Kripalu Yoga?
- Through yogic practices we are able to gain a new level of consciousness which brings a new awareness of our own depth of experience, be it physical, energetic, spiritual, emotional, etc.
- Yoga teaches that anything that keeps us from experiencing ourselves as truth, bliss and consciousness on a consistent basis are obstructions. These obstruction in turn lead to disturbances in the physical body as well as the subtle bodies and are the root causes of "dis-ease".
- Swami Kripalu described the primary aim of Yoga this way,"The purpose of Yoga is the attainment of happiness, peace and bliss. The meaning of Yoga is the union of individual consciousness with Shiva consciousness, with God. Yoga is the meeting of the drop and the ocean."
- Kripalu Yoga incorporates practices of Hatha Yoga, Raja Yoga, Kundalini Yoga, Bhakti Yoga and Karma Yoga. The principles encompassed are the physical, mental, energetic, devotional, and service to others.
- Throughout Kripalu Yoga's three-stage approach, you are guided to move at your own pace, honoring your body's needs in each moment. Kripalu Yoga develops the body, mind and spirit in a compassionate non-judgmental way.
